Session planning

A practical checklist before booking a surf pool

Look past a short promotional clip and establish what your own session includes.

Match the stated ability level

Read the operator’s level descriptions and answer experience questions honestly. Ask whether swimming ability, age or equipment requirements apply. If the labels are unclear, request an explanation before paying rather than assuming that intermediate means the same thing everywhere.

Check what happens on arrival

Confirm the briefing time, check-in requirements, changing arrangements and where equipment is collected. A scheduled water slot may start after arrival tasks you need to allow for. Ask how late arrival is handled and keep a dry layer for time spent waiting.

Understand what can change

Read the cancellation and rescheduling policy. Ask about operational interruptions and whether coaching or rental is part of the same booking. Keep the current venue terms with your confirmation so there is a clear reference if plans change.

Choose a question to take home

Pick one thing to understand by the end of the session: positioning, timing or a specific movement discussed with a coach. Use the repetition to notice patterns. A useful note and a clear next step can be a better outcome than chasing a highlight video.
